Chief Marketing Officer
As Chief Marketing Officer of Union Square Hospitality Group, Rani is responsible for growing the company’s beloved brands, developing new concepts, and partnering with EHI’s portfolio of hospitality and technology-related businesses.
Rani joined USHG after almost 5 years at Blue Apron, where as the first marketing hire, she was charged with establishing the brand as the market leader, resulting in 130X growth during her tenure and an initial public offering in 2017. Her responsibilities included all paid marketing (digital and offline), marketing analytics, public relations and communications, brand campaigns, creative agency management, content, social media, consumer insights, and marketing analytics. Under Rani’s leadership, Blue Apron’s growth, sustainable supply chain, customer impact, and marketing strategy were featured widely in national press including on the cover of Forbes magazine, and in stories in The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Fast Company, Inc., Business Insider, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Ad Age, TechCrunch, and Wired.
In addition to Blue Apron, Rani has held leadership roles in venture capital as an Executive-in-Residence (EIR) at Bessemer Venture Partners; a brand manager at Unilever where she led the Dove soap business, increasing growth 9X in one year, and developed new products in the ice cream category that she then developed into a global platform; and as a consultant at Bain & Company advising over a dozen B2C and B2B clients on strategic initiatives.
Rani has an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Marketing Strategy from Wharton, a Bachelors in Economics from Harvard, and certificates in Cuisine and Pastry from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. When not building businesses and teams, Rani spends as much time as possible traveling. Recent adventures include shark diving in South Africa, driving ATVs through rice paddies in Cambodia, snorkeling in Bali, and a road trip from San Sebastian, Spain to the Northern coast of France.
