Chief Investment Officer
As Union Square Hospitality Group’s Chief Investment Officer, Mark Leavitt leads the company’s financing, equity structuring, and capital allocation, as well as investment strategy in hospitality and technology-related businesses. He is primarily responsible for advancing USHG’s culture of Enlightened Hospitality through strategic growth of its existing businesses, as well as new ventures.
Over the last 25 years, Mark has enjoyed a successful career working with middle market and emerging growth companies to achieve their greatest potential by making strategic, financial, and human connections. Prior to joining USHG, Mark spent eight years at Piper Jaffray & Co., most recently serving as Managing Director and Global Group Head of Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Investment Banking. Previously, Mark headed media and communications teams at several firms, including Jefferies & Company and Robertson Stephens, and ran the Prudential Volpe Technology Group.
He serves as chair of the board of Jacob’s Pillow Dance, a school and performance space in the Berkshires, and sat on the Trinity College board of trustees from 2001 to 2009. He was also an active board member of a variety of public and private companies, including the Harlem Globetrotters, Leap Wireless (LEAP), Centennial Communications, Citadel Communications, T/SF Communications (TSF), and US Radio. Mark earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Trinity College.
